NFL Game Week 11

NFL Game Week 4

Welcome to the first NFL Weekly Roundup. Here I will be giving my opinion on some of the most topical moments from each game week in the NFL. Firstly, I have to start with the fact that I am a Cincinnati Bengals fan, so there might be some slight bias towards our AFC north competitors, (Browns, Ravens and Steelers).

                                                                            Now, lets get to business.

I think we’ve got to start with that statement win from the Ravens against the Buffalo Bills, much thanks to a monster game from star running back Derrick Henry, who posted 209 all purpose yards (199 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards) which helped spur Baltimore to a 35-10 demolition of the Bills. It was also a very efficient game from reining MVP Lamar Jackson who threw for 156 yards on a 72% completion rate for 2 touchdowns, who also picked up another touchdown on the ground. I think from a Buffalo stand-point, this has made a lot of the Josh Allen doubters emerge for the first time this season. Although I don’t believe the loss was solely on Allen, his failure to beat another Superbowl contender further improves the argument for his sceptics.

Shake and bake! Another masterclass from Baker Mayfield helps the Buccaneers beat an injury-hit Eagles side 33-16. Mayfield, who pieced up the Philly defence, threw for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also picked up 1 more with his legs. Every week Baker continues to make the Browns look worse and worse for deciding to bet the house on Deshaun Watson. Watson, who is continuing to struggle with Cleveland, losing again to the Raiders who were missing both star players in Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams. On the other hand, Mayfield, fresh off a playoff win with Tampa Bay last season, is thriving. Taking the Buccaneers to 3-1 on the season. I feel that the Tampa Bay defence needs a lot of credit for completely nullifying the Philadelphia offence. Although missing superstar wide receiver duo, A.J Brown and Devonta Smith, Philly still has arguably one of the best rushing offences in the league, with Saquon Barkley lighting it up so far this season, behind one of the best offensive line units in the NFL. Despite all this, Tampa Bay were able to hold the Philly offence to 16 points, while putting up 6 sacks in the process.

The final game I’m going to mention is the NFC north matchup between bitter rival Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings who have taken the league by storm this year behind current MVP candidate Sam Darnold Travelled to Lambeau Field and went toe to toe with Green Bay, shooting out to a massive 28-0 lead before half time with Darnold dealing 3 touchdowns. Green Bay would make a game of it when they scored 3 unanswered touchdowns leaving the game at 28-22. However, it would be the Vikings who would come away with the win, after a late field goal put the game out of reach for the 'cheeseheads'. It was a shaky game from Packers quarterback Jordan Love, in his first game back from injury, throwing 3 interceptions, but, I would still be confident as a Packers fan, mainly due to the second half resurgence displayed on Sunday.
