NFL Game Week 11

NFL Game Week 6

Welcome back to the NFL Weekly Roundup. There is plenty of action to talk about from this past weekend, so lets get into it! We're going to start in London this week, where the up and coming Chicago Bears made light work of the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Bears rookie phenom Caleb Williams had his best NFL game to date throwing for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns on very efficient 79% completion rate. Williams who posted a 124.4 passer rating on Sunday afternoon, carved up the Jags defence consistently, showcasing his incredible play-extending ability that ultimately got him drafted as the number 1 overall pick by the Bears this past February. The trade that Bears General Manager Ryan Poles executed before the 2023 NFL Draft where Chicago traded their number 1 overall draft pick for DJ Moore and a plethora of other picks is aging immaculately. Bryce Young who was selected by the Carolina Panthers has since been benched, meanwhile, in the windy city, the Bears selected Caleb and OT Darnell Wright with Carolina's first round picks, and they are flying! Caleb is on pace for a historic season for a Bears QB and hopefully he can continue to throw touchdowns and bring success to Soldier Field.

Big news coming out of Metlife Stadium this morning as the New York Jets have traded a conditional third round draft pick for all-pro wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are moving off Adams after a relatively underwhelming tenure in Vegas, and a re receiving a potential second round pick in return, which is a massive loss considering they sent a package of first and second round picks to the Green Bay Packers to acquire in March of 2022. Adams, who is reuniting with Aaron Rodgers, has given a glimmer of hope to a gloomy fanbase, especially after Monday nights agonising loss to division rival Buffalo Bills. Adams who will fill the WR1 position frees up the likes of Garret Wilson who can now be utilised against teams CB2 creating multiple mismatches for this Jets offence. We all know the arm talent of Rodgers and how he can carve a team open like the best of them, however, the biggest question of this team is the offensive line. Will they be able to give A-Rod the time to find their skill players? I guess we will see in the coming weeks.

I think we have to finish on that game in Arlington between the Cowboys and the Lions. I have to say, for as good as the Lions looked, the Cowboys are finished. I think the best thing for them to do now is regroup and get ready for next season. The season is over. Jerry Jones naivety is running his franchise into the ground. His method of nurturing talent from the draft is outdated. The fact they weren't willing to pay Derrick Henry who was reportedly keen to play for America's team is ridiculous. Henry is quite literally running away with the offensive player of the year award and Jerry wasn't willing to open the check book for him, but he is willing to give Dak a new $60 million-per-year contract when Dak hasn't ever got them past the divisional round in the playoffs. Make it make sense! The cowboys are wasting the prime of their two star players in Ceedee Lamb and Micah Parsons. Personally, I think the Cowboys only path to success is the sale of the Franchise, because under Jerry's management, they are only going one way.

Just as I'm about to post I see some breaking news regarding the Buffalo Bills. They have went and matched the Jets by trading for out of favour wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. I see this as a low risk, high reward move for the Bills, as they are only taking on around $800,000 of Cooper's salary. Cooper who has been a standout receiver throughout his collegiate and professional career can bring the necessary experience to a relatively young wide receiver room in Buffalo.
