Welcome back to the NFL Weekly Roundup. there is plenty in store this week. After a hectic weekend of football, I think there is only one place to start, and that is the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. What a game of football that was. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Atlanta Falcons in a division classic. the Buccaneers where dominant early on with Baker Mayfield playing like his regular self these days, dropping dimes to stud receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, even finding number 13 in the endzone twice. However, thanks to a franchise-record performance from Kirk Cousins, the Falcons would not go away. Cousins who threw for a ridiculous 509 yards, on 42-58 passing, spurred Atlanta to a game levelling field goal to end regulation, and it wouldn't take Kirko long to ice the game in overtime, when he found KhaDarel Hodge on a 45 yard touchdown to win the game 36-30. Although a shaky start to life in Atlanta, Cousins seems to have found his mojo under offensive co-ordinator, Zac Robinson.
As was mentioned in the previous post, I am a Cincinnati Bengals fan, so I'm going to ask the question now. How on earth does Zac Taylor still have a job. Honestly, I am so baffled at the Bengals front office's lack of awareness. Taylors play calling has been suspect for a while now, but Sunday was the tip of the iceberg for me. A red hot offence which saw Joe Burrow throw for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns , Ja'marr Chase catch 2 touchdowns and have over 200 yards receiving, and even Tee Higgins grabbing 2 touchdowns, on arguably a top 5 defence in the league. How Taylor can watch this from the side-line, then decide to run the ball 3 straight times into a brick wall and leave Evan McPherson with a 50-yarder to win the game, instead of letting the star players take the game by the scruff of the neck is genuinely incomprehensible to me. Joe Burrow is on 55 million dollars per year to quarterback the Bengals and the inadequate coaching staff at this organisation is failing him. the fact that Burrow is dominating the league, throwing 12 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions, and is second in pass completion rate, yet the Cincy defence is allowing 29 points per game, is atrocious. That secondary is completely incompetent of dealing with any talented receivers, let alone schematic geniuses, who are coaching AFC rivals. I think its time the Bengals front office bite the bullet and go all in on Burrow and Offence. Get a new coaching staff and get ready for next year!!!!!
I think ill leave that mess behind and move onto a more positive note. 1 and 2 are balling! Jayden Daniels has Washington out to their best start in 16 years, while Caleb Williams just had is coming out party where he dismantled a fairly abysmal Carolina Panthers side with ease. Daniels, who is without a doubt the Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner at the moment, pieced up the Cleveland Browns at the weekend throwing for 238 yards and a touchdown, while also gaining 82 yards with his feet. Daniels now leads all rookies in passing and rushing yards, which just proves his otherworldly dual-threat ability. On the other hand, Caleb Williams Threw for over 300 yards for 2 touchdowns on an efficient 20-29 pass completion ratio. This was the first game that I thought Williams looked completely in his element, extending plays and making bigtime throws. Personally, I think the Commanders and Bears are in safe hands for years to come!
