NFL Game Week 11

NFL Game Week 8

Welcome back to the NFL Weekly Roundup. Bit late on it this week, but that means even more to catch up on. I'm currently writing this while rewatching the highlights of the Jets and Texans game. I know that is technically a week 9 game, but it is current, so I'm going to talk about it. Welcome to the season New York. A 21-13 win with shades of vintage Rog there to be seen. A very clean game with regards to his recent performances. 3 touchdowns with no interceptions is a is one way to get the season kick started. Now, does this performance mean that they are going to reach the playoffs, no. However, this is a very positive performance. Rodgers was throwing dots, Garret Wilson and Davante were firing at all cylinders, Breece Hall was up to his usual antics and finally this star studded defence came to play. That Jets front line were all over C.J Stroud racking up 8 sacks. The hold-out situation with Haason Reddick was an absolute disaster in my opinion, but to have him back flying off the edge can only be a good thing. If I was a Jets fan, I would keep my expectations very low, however, this was a bright performance in a very dull season thus far.

I keep saying it, the Lions are LEGIT. I know the played the Titans, but 52 points is no small feat. You would think that putting up 52 points would result in a crazy box score, and you would be correct. 94 total passing yards for the lions, 85 for Goff, yet, 3 touchdown passes. 127 yards for a touchdown on 11 carries for Jahmyr Gibbs, showcasing his bell cow back ability with David Montgomery coming back from injury. The fact that Celtic can put up a sub 100 passing yard game and still dismantle their opponent with absolute ease is a major warning to the rest of the league. If Detroit go after a replacement for Aidan Hutchinson at the trade deadline, potentially Azeez Ojulari, whom is currently being shopped by the New York Giants. In no shape or form is Ojulari on the same planet as Hutch, but help on the D-Line would greatly improve their chance of going all the way this year.

The Falcons are looking good. I have to say it. After the Mike Penix selection and the first few games of the season, I was very sceptical, but they have seriously turned it around. After the absolute classic between the Buccaneers and Falcons a few weeks back, Kirko rolled into Tampa and put on a another clinic. 23 of 29 passing for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns. I think the biggest positive for Atlanta was the production of tight end Kyle Pitts. this is his first multiple touchdown game of his professional career. Pitts who was the 4th overall pick in the 2021 draft, was a seriously talented player coming out of Florida, but was criminally under-utilised under former head coach Arthur Smith. The talent has always been there, but he was failed by the system. The three headed monster of Pitts, London and Robinson can become a serious problem for the NFC South and the rest of the league for many years to come. I'm very excited to see where this Falcons team can go this year. Honestly, I don't think a conference title game is out of the question if they keep rolling w Kirko.
